Clubruns - December

Postby simon » December 14th, 2015, 1:41 pm

The first two clubruns in December have followed a similar pattern - grey skies and damp miserable weather.

6 December we (Ian, Simon, Tony, Dave) got conned by a dodgy weather forecast and headed into the Peaks with no waterproofs. This proved a big mistake but fortunately we were able to get warm and dry in Dave's kitchen where he treated us to beans on toast and some very nice home made cake and mince pies (thanks Sally!)

Yesterday was not much better. It was cold and drizzly all day so we (Ian, Simon, Tony, Jonathan) opted for a shorter ride than planned and went to Delamere for lunch - 66 miles for me. The rain was never really bad enough to need waterproofs on but we were pretty soaked through by the end and it started to get dark from about 3pm.

Only one more week now before the days start getting longer again.

As long as he doesn't run away to join a circus, we are also now looking forward to seeing Tony venturing out on club runs on his unicycle - he has finally mastered it!

Sunday 20 December 2015. - Old Ma's.

Six at Handforth (Andy, Barry, Dave W, Ian, Simon and Tony).

It was down for Delamere but as that was the cafe used last week we opted to split and some go to Old Ma's (Andy, Simon, Tony and Ian) then Dave and Baz went to Delamere to meet an expected Paul.

Super day for riding, sunny and mild.

81 miles for me with avg 16.2mph.

Sunday 27 December 2015 - Bradnop

Seven of us today, Andy, Ian, Jonathan, Paul, Simon and Tony started out and Dave W met us at the cafe.

Paul was on fixed so opted for a flatter route, Ian had a hip issue at Rudyard so headed back before lunch. Dave was at lunch at the excellent Equestrian centre cafe.

Paul headed direct home, five of us headed over Morrige Edge and Gradbach were we split once again with three heading direct and Dave and I out via Buxton and Dove Holes.

A murky grey day and in the clouds for Much of the ride but dry and mild so ok really.

73miles and 6000ft of climbing for me which is good for late December.
